Native to the majority of the US, this is one of the toughest grasses in hot, dry locations. A low growing grass, 4-8” tall, that forms dense, clumping tufts that can develop into a mowable lawn or natural meadow. Sun, most soils, moderate to little water.
 
Extremely cold hardy, short winter dormancy period in warmer zones. Hardy to 0° and below.
