CALIFORNIA FESCUE
 
Native to chaparral and oak woodlands of the coastal ranges from Oregon to California.  Smaller clumping grass to 1-2’ tall with gray-green leaves.  Performs best in light shade when it is very tolerant of dry conditions.  Cream colored seeds are loosely arranged 1’ above the foliage in spring through summer.  Plant in large drifts, smaller groupings, on slopes for erosion control, also valued for its habitat importance.  Hardy to 15°
