DEER GRASS
 
Large CA native that creates rounded mounds to 4’ tall.  Most beautiful in late spring and summer when the grass is topped with numerous erect, slender flower stalks reaching 2’ above the foilage.  Durable native adaptable to most soils, heat and drought tolerant.  Also tolerant of seaside exposure.  Can be cut back hard in late winter to clean older leaves and flower stalks.  Hardy to 15°.
